What is the need for a system of control and coordination in an organism?

AcademicBiologyNCERTClass 10

The maintenance of the body functions in response to changes in the body by working on various integrated systems of the body is known as coordination. The various movements that occur in response to stimuli are carefully coordinated and controlled.

The nervous system and endocrine system are responsible for the control and coordination of complex, multicellular animal bodies with multiple organ systems of complex functioning. Endocrine secretions or hormones regulate the proper growth and development and functioning of different organs.

The nervous system helps us respond to our surroundings and perform daily activities. It does so by sensing external and internal stimuli followed by a relay of sensory information to CNS (Central Nervous System) for processing and generation of motor actions, both involuntary and voluntary actions.
