What are the best tourist places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands?

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are one of the seven union territories of India. They are a group of about 600 islands in the Bay of Bengal and only 36 of them are inhabited. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are known for their scenic beaches and dense forests and are very good tourist spots.

Port Blair

  • This is the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar islands and is it a stagnant reminder of the great sacrifices that have been made over the years for the country by the freedom fighters.

  • One of the most famous attractions here is the cellular jail that is known for the struggle that Indians had to go through in order to get their country free. The jail is known to provide solitary confinement to the prisoners and each of the prison cells faced the back side of the other cells so the prisoner could not have a chance to see other people.

  • The jail is famous because many of our freedom fighters have also been locked up in the same jail. Also, ferries operate to all other islands from Port Blair.

Havelock islands

  • This is a very beautiful island that is also home to one of the most popular beaches India, the Radhanagar beach.

  • It is situated around 12 kilometers away from these islands and it is a must visit. The water is so pure and clean that it is literally clear blue and a huge number of activities are conducted over there like scuba diving, boating, snorkeling, and fishing as well.

  • It is most popular for couples to visit as the beach is almost empty and provides a sense of serenity and peace. Romantic strolls are always on the card when you come to this beach with your loved ones.

Baratang Island

  • The boat ride to this island is covered with a canopy of the forest that covers the top and it is also housed in the Jarawa tribe. However, it is also a dangerous place as there are sea crocodiles that are present in the water and it is not recommended to go near the water unless you are in a boat.

  • The limestone caves that are present over here will catch your attention as they have been eroded in the unique shapes.

  • Having a guide will help you on the tour as he will be able to guide you through the island and you can also get to known unique facts about the tribes as well.

Rangat

  • Situated in the middle of the Andaman islands it is famous for the Cuthbert bay beach that is basically a breeding ground for turtles. Not just normal turtles but there are many other types of turtles that breed over here like the green sea turtles, hawksbill turtle, olive ridley turtle, and the leatherback turtles.

  • There is also a sanctuary that is present that provides a beautiful view of the newly born turtles moving towards the sea.
