What are the best hill stations which tourists can visit in India?
When it comes to geography, India is always considered as the miniature model of the world with all types of topography that exists on this land. India houses many hill stations in the different mountain ranges like Sahyadri, Satpura, and the Himalayas. Some of the most visited hill stations in India are:
Coorg
Popularly known as the coffee country, Coorg is considered to be one of the best hill stations in the country. It is located in the state of Karnataka about 150 km from Mangalore. It is famous for jaggery coffee and homemade chocolates. It is a true delight for a tourist to visit huge stretches of coffee plantations.
Namdroling Monastery called the Golden Temple here too attracts a large no. of visitors. The waterfalls add to the natural beauty and the most popular one here is Irpu falls. Others famous tourist spots are Deer Park, Nisargadham, and Tala Kaveri.
Munnar
Kerala is considered to be God’s own country for it is truly blessed with extraordinary natural beauty. Munnar is more fortunate in this state to be the crowning beauty of tea plantations and vast areas of land densely covered with evergreen forests. Some of the popular places to visit in Munnar are Kannan Devan Tea Museum, Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, Tea Garden, and Attukal falls.
Shimla
Shimla is considered to be the queen of hill stations in India. Shimla is located in the lap of Himalayas, and hence brings out the spirit of the oldest group of mountains in the world in its true sense. It has also become a highly commercial place now. Kufri, Ridge and Mall road are the important places to visit here.
Ooty
With the traditional name of Udhagamandalam, Ooty is a calm and pleasant hill station located in the state of Tamil Nadu. Along with the tea and coffee plantations, it is also known for the eucalyptus and pine plantations. The Toda tribe is one of the oldest indigenous group that lives here in the Nilgiris. The popular tourist spots in Ooty are Botanical Gardens, Kalahatty falls, Ooty Lake boat ride and Government Museum.
Pachmarhi
Pachmarhi is a hill station located in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It has a unique combination of historical and natural beauty with Buddhist caves located here along with scenic waterfalls. Other points of interest include Satpura National Park, Chotta Mahadeo, Mahadeo hills, etc.
Darjeeling
Located in West Bengal, Darjeeling is a hill station best known for its heritage railways. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Park and Japnese Peace Pagoda attract many tourists every year. Other places of interest here include Mahakala Temple, Ghoom Monastery, and Everest Museum.
Nainital
Nainital is a popular Hill Station located in the Kumaon Himalayas region in the state of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 2,084 meters above the sea level. Tiffin top is an ideal place here for hikers and mountain lovers. G.B. Pant Zoo here is a paradise for wildlife lovers. The Nainital Lake is a must visit for every tourist to enjoy the bliss of nature and capture some really good photographs.
Panchgani
Located in the Satara district of the state of Maharashtra, Panchgani is popularly considered as the land of strawberries. The tourist can enjoy various points in Panchgani which includes Sunset point, Sydney point, Parsi Point and Kate Point.
