Two balls of the same size but of different materials, rubber and iron are kept on the smooth floor of a moving train. The brakes are applied suddenly to stop the train. Will the balls start rolling? If so, in which direction? Will they move with the same speed? Give reasons for your answer.

When the brakes are applied suddenly, the train comes to rest but the balls keep on rolling due to inertia as they have different masses. So, they will move at different speeds. And we know that an iron ball is much heavier than a rubber ball of the same size. So, the iron ball will move slower than the rubber ball.
