# To know the opinion of the students about the subject statistics, a survey of 200 students was conducted. The data is recorded in the following table.

Find the probability that a student chosen at random

**(i)**likes statistics

Given:

A survey of 200 students was conducted.

To do:

We have to find the probability that a student chosen at random

(i) likes Mathematics.

(ii) does not like it.

Solution:

(i) Total number of students $=200$

Number of students who like statistics $=135$

We know that,

Probability of an event=$ \frac{Number \ of \ favourable \ outcomes}{Total \ number \ of \ outcomes}$

Therefore,

Probability that the student likes statistics $=\frac{135}{200}$

$=0.675$

This implies,

**The probability that the student likes statistics is $0.675$. **

Number of students who do not like statistics $=65$

We know that,

Probability of an event=$ \frac{Number \ of \ favourable \ outcomes}{Total \ number \ of \ outcomes}$

Therefore,

Probability that the student does not like statistics $=\frac{65}{200}$

$=0.325$

This implies,

**The probability that the student does not like statistics is $0.325$. **
