Suggest a few measures for controlling carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
The measures to control carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are:
(i) Afforestation:
Growing more trees helps in the reduction of carbon dioxide naturally, as plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere.
(ii) Reduce the usage of petrol- and diesel-based automobiles as they release harmful gases. Instead increase the usage of public transport, electric vehicles, or covering the short distance through walking.
(iii) Use CNG (clean fuel) instead of coal and petroleum.
(iv) Prepare natural compost or biofertilizer out of litter instead of burning it.
(v) Smoke released from thermal power stations and industries contains harmful gases therefore they must be treated before eliminating directly into the atmosphere.
