About
Shifting the way people think, feel and behave with money.
I was raised in a single-parent home with three siblings and this forced me to learn many money lessons early on in life. Being financially independent was the driving force in my life and ensuring my own daughter was raised accordingly was critical. Even with an extensive background in financial planning, I found it challenging to explain financial concepts to her and wondered if other parents were struggling too. I searched for age-appropriate books that taught kids about money and unfortunately were unable to find any. I realised that this was an opportunity for me to create awareness of healthy money habits being formed at an early age.
My soul’s purpose is to empower as many children, teens, and adults to manage money better so that they can achieve financial wellness. Financial education is a huge problem not only in South Africa but globally too. This important life skill is required for adulthood, yet not much attention is given to this topic within the school system. Many parents are also not equipped to have money conversations with their children in a positive manner. I honestly believe that with the proper knowledge, tools, and skills many financial mistakes can be avoided.
My credentials: I am a Certified Financial Planner®. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psych & Comm) and a Postgrad in Advanced Tax. I am also an accredited workplace life coach and a Member of the Financial Planning Institute (South Africa). I am an author of Mrs Spiggles and her money tales, a series of stories that teach children about money, a speaker, financial wellness coach, and a business owner of a financial education and wellness program.
