Write two equivalent fractions for each using

division.

i) $\frac{200}{300} $

ii) $ \frac{150}{210} $

iii) $ \frac{100}{125} $

iv) $ \frac{124}{144} $


Solution:

i)$\frac{200}{300}$ 

Divide both by 10

$\frac{200}{10}  =  20  ;  \frac{300}{10} = 30$

$\frac{200}{300}  =  \frac{20}{30}$

Divide both by 100

$\frac{200}{100}  =  2  ;  \frac{300}{100} = 3$

$\frac{200}{300}  =  \frac{2}{3}$

ii) $\frac{100}{125}$

Divide both by 5

$\frac{100}{5}  =  20  ;  \frac{125}{ 5} $ =  25

$\frac{100}{125}  =  \frac{20}{25}$

Divide both by 25,

$\frac{100}{ 25}  =  4  ;  \frac{125 }{ 25}$  =  5

$\frac{100}{125}  =  \frac{4}{ 5}$

iii)  $\frac{150}{210}$

Divide both by 10

$\frac{150}{10}$  = 15  ;  $\frac{210}{10}$ = 21

$\frac{150}{210} = \frac{5}{21}$

Divide both by 30

$\frac{150}{30}  = 5  ;  \frac{210 }{30}$ = 7

$\frac{150}{210} = \frac{5}{ 7}$

 

iv)  $\frac{124}{144}$

Divide both by 2

$\frac{124}{ 2}  =  62  ;  \frac{144}{2} $ =  72

$\frac{124}{144}  =  \frac{62}{72}$

Divide both by 4

$\frac{124}{4}  = 31  ;  \frac{144}{4}$ = 36

$\frac{124}{144}  =  \frac{31}{ 36}$
