Any number that we can write as a decimal number, between 1.0 and 10.0, multiplied by a power of 10, is said to be in standard form.

7489.3 is a decimal number with one decimal place

To write it in standard form it should be between 1.0 and 10.0 multiplied by a power of 10.

To do that we move the decimal to the left three places and multiply the given number by 10^3

So 7489.3 = 7.4893 x 10 ^3
