Without performing actual computations, find the quotient when $94 - 49$ is divided by
(i) 9.
(ii) 5.

Given:

$94 - 49$

To do:

We have to  find the quotient when $94 - 49$ is divided by

(i) 9.

(ii) 5.

Solution:

(i) We know that when $ab-ba$ is divided by $9$ then the  quotient is $(a-b)$.

The digits of the given numbers 94 and 49 are reversed.

Here,

$a = 9, b = 4$

$a-b=9-4=5$

If $94 -49$ is divided by $9$, then the quotient is $a-b=5$.

(ii) We know that when $ab-ba$ is divided by $(a-b)$ then the  quotient is $5$.

The digits of the given numbers 94 and 49 are reversed.

Here,

$a = 9, b = 4$

$a-b=9-4=5$

If $94 -49$ is divided by $5$, then the quotient is $9$.
