With the help of experiment, show that oxygen is necessary for the burning of the candle.
In order to show that oxygen is necessary for burning of the candle, the following experiment can be performed.
Procedure:
Step 1- Take the candle and fix it on top of a table. Light the candle.
Step 2 - Take a bell jar and cover the candle.
Observation: The candle will burn for some time and then it the flame is extinguished.
Conclusion: When the bell jar is placed on top of the candle, the remaining air helps in the burning of the candle for some time, when all the oxygen in the air inside the bell jar is consumed by the candle .the flame is extinguished.
