Why sky looks blue in colour? Which scientific (physical) phenomena is responsible for it?

The sky looks blue because when the sunlight falls on the gases and particles of air present in the Earth's atmosphere, it gets scattered in all directions. But, blue light is dispersed more than other colours present in the sun's white light because it has a shorter wavelength (smaller waves), and a higher frequency. Also, in the lower atmosphere, tiny oxygen and nitrogen molecules scatter short-wavelength light, to a far greater degree than long-wavelength light. Along with this, the sun emits high concentrations of blue light waves, and our eyes are also more sensitive to blue. So the sky looks blue in colour.

The phenomenon responsible for it is the scattering of light.
