Why Jute needs high rainfall for its cultivation?

Jute is a rainy season crop that requires a hot and humid climate. High temperature between 24 to 35 degree Celsius, rainfall between 120 to 150 cm and humidity of around 80 to 90% is required for the growth of Jute.

The humid climate is suitable for its germination and it requires a huge amount of water for growth.

Irregular, less and unseasonal rainfalls, as well as prolonged droughts, are very harmful to this crop.
