Why is the spraying of pesticides harmful to us?

Pesticides are those substances that are used to control or kill various pests like, insects, fungi, or plants.

Spraying of pesticides is harmful to us because many of the thousands of different pesticides we are using are hazardous chemicals because they can poison or contaminate the land, water, air, food crops, and domestic animals.

Pesticides can cause two types of health effects -

1. Acute adverse effects- This occurs for the short-term.

Examples- blindness, stinging eyes, dizziness, rashes, blisters, nausea, and diarrhea.

2. Chronic adverse effects- This occurs after months or years of exposure.

Examples- Cancers, birth defects, nervous system, the reproductive system, immunotoxicity, and disruption of the endocrine system.
