Why is the folding up of the leaves of a sensitive plant on touching with a finger not a tropism?
The folding up of leaves in a sensitive plant on touching is not a tropism (like thigmotropism) because it is a non-directional movement, means the direction of movement of leaves does not depend on the direction of the stimulus (touch). Tropism is a directional movement where the direction of the movement of the plant part is towards the stimulus.
