Why is lightning most common in rainy season?

Clouds contain the negative charge on the lower edge which leads to the accumulation of positive charge on the upper portion of the buildings or trees due to induction. If the magnitude of accumulated charges is too large, the air that acts as an insulator between clouds and buildings will no longer be able to resist the charges. As a result, a very heavy charge passes through the air in a short period of time due to lightning discharge, and massive amounts of energy are released in the form of heat, light and sound. This process is known as lightning.

And, during the rainy season or monsoon period due to low cloud base height, lightening occurs frequently.
