Why eye lens is called crystalline lens?

Crystalline means very clear. The crystalline lens has the ability to change its shape, to change the focal distance of the eye so that it can focus on objects at various distances. Thus it allows a sharp and clear image of the object to be formed on the retina. That is why we call it a crystalline lens.
