Why does water trickle off Lotus leaves?
Lotus plants have textures that are superhydrophobic. The drops of water that land on them bead up and roll off. Not only can these leaves remain dry but the droplets also pick up the bits of soil as they roll. So the leaves of the lotus are self-cleaning.
