Why does the soil need leveling? Give at least 4 points.

Leveling is the process by which differences in height or elevation of objects or points on the earth's surface can be determined or adjusted between two or more points.

The leveling of ploughed soil in the field is done by using an equipment called leveler, which would be made up of a heavy wooden plank or an iron plank.

It is widely used in cartography to measure geodetic height and in the construction of roads, bridges, railways, and airports.

Soil needs leveling because-

1. It improves irrigation, by distributing water uniformly in the fields during activation.

2. It prevents the tops of fertile soil from being carried away by strong winds and from being washed away by rainwater.

3. It helps to retain the moisture.

4. It also plays an important role in the construction of routes of transport like roads and railways.
