Why does one get hurt on jumping from a great height to the floor?

When a person jumps from a great height to the floor, the force is applied by the person over the surface of the floor, in reaction the force of the same magnitude in the opposite direction is exerted by the floor. So the person gets hurt if he jumps from a great height.
