Why does it matters if a species goes extinct?
If the species goes extinct, its impact on the ecosystem is mainly depend upon its role in the ecosystem. When a species plays an unique role in the ecosystem, its loss can create chain effect through the food chain, that impacts existence of other species and interlinked food web itself.
