Why does Iris are of different colour in some people?

Eye color is caused by the amount of melanin, a pigment found in the front part of the iris of the eye. Melanin in large quantities gives brown eyes and medium quantities give green eyes. The lack of melanin would give blue eyes.

So the melanin content that Blue-green eyes have lain between the melanin content of green eyes and blue eyes, similarly, hazel eyes have an amount of pigment between green and brown, etc.
