Why does a gunman get a jerk on firing a bullet ?

 When a gunman fires a bullet from the gun, the force which pushes the bullet forward and the same force is exerted on the gun which pushes the gun backward. As the gun's mass is more than the bullet so it moves a little backward and the gunman gets a jerk while firing.
