Why do we fall backwards when a car suddenly gets started?

Solution:

When we sit in a car and the car gets started we fall backwards due to inertia of rest which states, "An object is in the the state of rest until an external force is applied on it to move." This is why, when the car gets started our body tends to be in the state of rest and opposes the motion of the car and we fall backward.
