Why do the colour and solution of copper sulphate change when we take a solution of copper sulphate in a beaker and put an iron nail in it?
When Iron nails are placed in copper sulphate solution, the blue colour of Copper Sulphate solution changes to green. This is due to the displacement of copper by iron as copper gets deposited on top of iron nails.
The equation is given as:
Fe + CuSO4 (blue) --> FeSO4 (green) + Cu
