Why can we not see an image in an old and worn out stainless steel plate?
Usually light is reflected uniformly by polished and smooth surfaces. The new stainless steel plate is highly polished and forms a shiny surface. So they can reflect light and form a clear image,
For old plates, the polish is gradually removed and hence they have a rough surface. So they do not reflect uniformly and do not form a clear image.
