Why can't we cook in glass containers?

We can't cook in a glass container because glass is a poor conductor of heat and electricity, heating the glass containers expands the inner layer of the glass more than the outer layer. This leads to unequal expansion of the glass layers and thus the glass container may form cracks or break.
