Why are jute plants cut at flowering stage and not on complete maturation?
Jute plants are harvested or cut at the time of the flowering stage because at this stage plant contains more of fibres and we obtain a good quality of fibre.
If it is allowed to grow after the flowering and then harvesting is done after-ripening of seeds, then the fibre lacks lustre and elasticity. It becomes very stiff and rough.
