Which of the following fractions are in simplest form
(i) $\frac{21}{40}$ (ii) $\frac{35}{49}$
Given :
The given fractions are
(i) $\frac{21}{40}$ (ii) $\frac{35}{49}$.
To find :
We have to find which of the given fractions are in simplest form.
Solution :
(i) $\frac{21}{40}$
21 and 40 have no common factors other than 1. Therefore, $\frac{21}{40}$ is already in its simplest form.
(ii) $\frac{35}{49}$
$\frac{35}{49}= \frac{7\times5}{7\times7} = \frac{5}{7}$
$\frac{5}{7}$ is the simplest form of $\frac{35}{49}$.
