Given:
17 | 8 | 5 | 5 |
13 | 7 | 5 | 4 |
6 | 12 | 6 | 3 |
10 | 6 | 4 | ? |
To find:
The missing number.
Solution:
For each row the sum of the first two columns is equal to the multiple of the last two columns.
Row 1:17 $+$ 8 = 25 and 5 $\times$ 5 = 25
Row 2: 13 $+$ 7 = 20 and 5 $\times$ 4 = 20
Row 3: 6 $+$ 12 = 18 and 6 $\times$ 3 = 18
Now,
In row 4 let the required number be equal to a. So,
10 $+$ 6 = 16 and 4 $\times$ a = 16
16 = 4a
a = $\frac{16}{4}$
a = 4
17 | 8 | 5 | 5 |
13 | 7 | 5 | 4 |
6 | 12 | 6 | 3 |
10 | 6 | 4 | 4 |
So, the answer is 4.
