When potassium iodide solution is added to a solution of lead (II) nitrate in a test tube, a precipitate is formed.(a) What is the colour of this precipitate? Name the compound precipitated.(b) Write the balanced chemical equation for this reaction.(c) List two types of reactions in which this reaction can be placed.

(a) The colour of this precipitate formed is yellow. The compound precipitated is lead iodide.
(b) The Chemical reaction is given below:
$Kl (aq) + Pb(NO_{3})_{2}(aq) \rightarrow Pb(l)_{2}(s) +KNO_{3}(aq)$
(c) The two types of reaction in which it can be placed are:
  1.  Double displacement reaction: As there is an exchange of ions taking place in the reactants to form the products. Hence, it is a double displacement reaction.
  2. Precipitation reaction: As a yellow colour precipitate of lead iodide is formed at the end of the reaction. Hence, it is known as a Precipitation reaction.
