When metals react with water, what will be the product?


Metals on reaction with water form a metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas is evolved. 

For example, Sodium reacts vigorously with water to give hydrogen and sodium hydroxide. Calcium reacts readily with water to give calcium hydroxide and hydrogen is evolved.
