When metals react with water, they are acidic or basic?


When a metal reacts with water, a metal hydroxide and hydrogen are formed.

For example, Sodium reacts vigorously with water. Calcium reacts readily with water.
                                  M(s) + 2H2O(l) ⟶ M(OH)2(aq) + H2(g)
                                   Here, M stands for metal
