What will happen if too much or little hydrochloric acid is released from the stomach?

In humans, the hormone gastrin helps in the release of hydrochloric acid.

Excessive production of the hormone gastrin causes excessive release of hydrochloric acid. Normally acid allows the breakdown of the food.

Under or low production of acid leads to the low or under digestion of the food that can lead to bloating or indigestion.

Excessive production of acid forms the peptic ulcer in the inner lining of the stomach and intestine. It is a very painful situation for the patient.
