What is Xylem?

Xylem is one of the two types of transport tissue in vascular plants, second is the phloem.

The basic function of xylem is to transport water and dissolved minerals from roots to the rest of the plant, and also provides physical support.

Xylem is composed of four different types of elements:

1.Tracheids

2. Vessels

3. Xylem Fibre

4. Xylem Parenchyma
