What is valency? Explain the different types of valencies.

The combining capacity of an atom is called its valency. There are 2 types of valencies.

Covalency	Electrovalency
Covalency is defined as the number of electrons shared by atoms to form a covalent bond.	Electrovalency is defined as the number of electrons lost or gained by an atom to form an ionic bond.
