What is unitary method ? Explain.

The unitary method is a technique for solving a problem by first finding the value of a single unit, and then finding the necessary value by multiplying the single unit value.

Example:

A man earns Rs 400 in 10 days . How much will he earn in 28 days ?

Solution:

Since in 10 days, the man earns = Rs 400

As per the unitary method let us see how much he earns in 1 day

Therefore in 1 day , he will earn = Rs $\frac{400}{10}$ =Rs  40

Therefore in 28 days , he will earn = $28 \times 40$= Rs 1120
