What is tissue?


The word "tissue" derives from the French word "tissu", which means something that is "woven".

Tissues are groups of cells that have a similar structure that acts together to perform a specific function.

The organs are formed by grouping together of multiple tissues according to their function.

There are 'four' different types of tissues found in animal:

1. Connective Tissue.

2. Muscle Tissue.

3. Nervous Tissue.

4. Epithelial Tissue.

There are 'three' different types of tissues found in plants:

1. Vascular Tissue.

2. Ground Tissue.

3. Epidermal Tissue.
