The main function of the Peripheral Nervous System is to connect the central nervous system to other parts of the body.
The nervous system can be divided into two parts: the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
- The central nervous system is the portion of the nervous system consisting of the brain and spinal cord.
- The peripheral nervous system (PNS) is the system of nerves outside of the central nervous system.
Cranial nerves and spinal nerves are the main components of the peripheral nervous system.
The main difference between them is that Cranial nerves arise from the brain whereas spinal nerves arise from the spinal cord.
