What is the role of Vitamin A, C & D in the body?
1.Vitamin A - Vitamin A is also known as retinol because it produces the pigments in the retina of the eye.
It helps to form and maintain healthy teeth, skeletal, soft tissue, mucus membranes, skin, and also promotes good eyesight, especially in low light.
Source- It is found in orange-coloured fruits and vegetables, dark leafy greens, like spinach.
2.Vitamin C - Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant which is needed for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of our body, such as healing wound and scar tissue forming.
It is the part of an enzyme that is used for protein metabolism that makes skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels.
It is also important for the immune system and helps in iron absorption
Source- It is found in citrus fruits and juices, like oranges and grapefruits, red, green, and yellow peppers
3.Vitamin D - Vitamin D is needed for the proper absorption of calcium stored in bones. Along with calcium, it helps to build bones and keep them strong and healthy.
Other roles of Vitamin D in our body, include neuromuscular and immune function, modulation of cell growth, and reduction of inflammation.
Source- It can be found in fortified milk and dairy products; cereals; and surely, sunshine.
