# What is the role of Vitamin A, C & D in the body?

**1.Vitamin A - **Vitamin A is also known as **retinol** because it produces the pigments in the retina of the eye.

It helps to form and maintain **healthy teeth, skeletal, soft tissue, mucus membranes, skin,** and also promotes **good eyesight**, especially in low light.

**Source- **It is found in orange-coloured fruits and vegetables, dark leafy greens, like spinach.

**2.Vitamin C -** Vitamin C acts as an **antioxidant** which is needed for the **growth and repair of tissues** in all parts of our body, such as healing wound and scar tissue forming.

It is the part of an enzyme that is used for protein metabolism that makes **skin, tendons, ligaments, **and **blood vessels. **

It is also important for the** immune system** and helps in **iron absorption**

**3.Vitamin D -** Vitamin D is needed for the proper **absorption of calcium** stored in bones. Along with calcium, it helps to build bones and keep them strong and healthy.

Other roles of Vitamin D in our body, include **neuromuscular **and** immune function, modulation of cell growth, **and** reduction of inflammation. **
