What is the power of a convex lens whose focal length is 80 cm?

Given:

Focal length, $f$ = $+$80 cm = $+$0.8 m

To find: Power of a lens, $P$.

Solution:

We know that power of the lens is given by-

$Power\ (P)=\frac {1}{f}$

Substituting the given value we get-

 $P=\frac {1}{0.8}$

 $P=\frac {10}{8}$

 $P=+1.25D$

Hence, the power of the lens is 1.25 D.
