What is the differences between SER and RER?

The differences between Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum(SER), and Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum(RER) are given below:

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
1. SER does not have ribosomes.1. RER has ribosomes.

2. SER mainly produce and export lipids and protein and function for detoxification.

2. RER produces, secrete and export proteins and few hormones.

3. Usually found in the periphery or present near the cell membrane.

3. Found deep inside the cytoplasm or present near the nucleus.

4. Formed of tubules.

4. Formed of cisternae.

5. Adipocyte, Interstitial Cells, Retinal Cells.

5. Goblet cells, Plasma Cells, Endocrine Cells.
