What is the differences between SER and RER?
The differences between Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum(SER), and Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum(RER) are given below:
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum | Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum |
1. SER does not have ribosomes. | 1. RER has ribosomes. |
2. SER mainly produce and export lipids and protein and function for detoxification. | 2. RER produces, secrete and export proteins and few hormones. |
3. Usually found in the periphery or present near the cell membrane. | 3. Found deep inside the cytoplasm or present near the nucleus. |
4. Formed of tubules. | 4. Formed of cisternae. |
5. Adipocyte, Interstitial Cells, Retinal Cells. | 5. Goblet cells, Plasma Cells, Endocrine Cells. |
