What is the difference between a shadow and image of an object?

Image: An image is a reflection of light rays from an object. It has the color of the object. For example, you can see your image in a mirror.

Shadow: When an opaque object gets in the way of sunlight, it stops light rays from traveling through it. This results in an area of darkness forming behind the object. This darkness is called a shadow.

Differences between an image and a shadow

1.It is formed when a light ray is reflected. It is formed when light ray does not pass behind an object.
2.Image is seen when the reflected light reaches the observer's eye.No light would reach the observer's eye.
3.An image can be straight or inverted.A shadow cannot be inverted.
4.It can give the properties or structure of the reflected object such as color, size, shape, etc.Since it is dark, it cannot provide such kind of properties.
