What is the definition of fabric?

Fabric is a material made after weaving, knitting, spreading, or crocheting thin strands of threads (known as fiber) for the production of a garment.

The characteristics of a fabric depend upon the type of fibre being used and the treatment applied to them.

Example: Cotton, rayon, linen, satin, and denim are different types of fabrics.

The two main processes involved in making fabrics from yarns are knitting and weaving.

Weaving is a process of interlacing two different sets of yarns together to make a fabric. Looms are used for weaving, operated either by hand or using electricity.

Knitting is a process where a piece of fabric can be made from a single yarn. It can be done by hand or using machines. A knitted fabric contains multiple loops of yarn called stitches.
