What is Potential Difference?

The electric potential difference, voltage, or electric tension is the difference in electric potential between two points in a circuit, which is defined as the work needed per unit of charge to move a test charge between the two points.

A potential difference of one volt is equal to one Joule of energy being used by one Coulomb of charge when it flows between two points in a circuit.
