What is momentum?


Momentum is the quantity of motion that a moving object has.  If an object is in motion then it has momentum.

Momentum is defined as the product of the mass of a particle or body that is moving and its velocity.

Mathematically, momentum = Mass $ \times $ Velocity

Momentum is a vector quantity; i.e., it has both magnitude and direction. The SI unit of momentum is Kg m/s.
