What is metal?
Metal is the material which possesses the characteristic of being hard, shiny, malleable, fusible, ductile, etc. are termed as metal.
Few examples of metals are iron, gold, silver, aluminium, copper, mercury etc.
Properties of metals:-
1) Each and every metal is a good conductor of electricity.
2) Metals are malleable. They can be made into thin sheets.
For example, aluminum and gold sheets.
3) Metals are ductile. They can be stretched into thin wires.
For example copper wires. 4) Metals are heavy and are of high density.
5) Metals have a property called lustrous that makes them shiny. They reflect light that fell on their surface.
6) Metals can be polished, so they can be used in jewelry.
