What is magnitude of displacement?
Magnitude of displacement means the size of the displacement without regard to its direction (i.e., just a number with a unit).
For example, A boy starts walking from his home to reach school, first, he goes straight 10m, then 20m left, then 100m right and he arrives at school.
Here, total distance is 10+20+100 = 130m, but the displacement will be less than the distance, as displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final point.
130 is the magnitude and 'm' is the unit.
