What is Friction Angle?

Angle of friction is defined in the context of motion on inclined plane. The minimum angle of incline for which a body placed on it just starts sliding without any external force is called the angle of friction.

When the body placed on some surface is just on the point of sliding then in that condition the angle between applied force and normal force is called the angle of friction. If phi is angle of friction ,tan (phi)= mu, the coefficient of friction.
