What is evaporation? State one large scale use of the process of evaporation.

Evaporation is the process by which water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapour. Evaporation is the primary pathway that water moves from the liquid state back into the water cycle as atmospheric water vapour.

Evaporation is used to separate a soluble solid from a liquid.

Example- water transforms to water vapour on heating.

Large scale use of evaporation are-

1. On Evaporating seawater (salty), we get salts which we use in our food.

2. The ocean water evaporates due to excessive heat of the sun and this water vapour travels up and forms clouds which then results in rain. So, large scale evaporation is essential for the formation of clouds and rain.
